WSPR Beacon App Ready For The Weekend

IMG_20141126_173521

Hi everyone,

after the KX3 Companion app upgrade, I (re)started working on the WSPR Beacon App (for Android) and I can say that it is almost ready. It should be released in the weekend.

Like the QRSS Beacon App this is made to work with ANY rig and not specifically for the KX3 or other Elecraft radios.

The core works, and transmitting works. I have to “skin” it to make it look good and add some additional control over the input (callsign and locator specifically).

I hope to be able to add the automatic locator calculation based on the GPS data but can’t guarantee. I already have the code that converts latitude/longitude into WWLocator grid square (I used it in the last version of the KX3 Companion) but I have to add the GPS management. It should be easy but don’t know how much time I’ll be able to dedicate and I want it to release and eventually add the automatic grid locator calc in a following update.

The app will work on TX only and it’ll allow to check reports by using wsprnet.org map and database pages.

So, if you’ve been waiting for it… it’s almost there 🙂
