What You’d Like To See In KX3 Companion?

KX3 Companion is an always growing app and I need your help to decide the direction of the next updates.

Please select up to 3 of the following options.

If you have some additional idea, please add them in the comments below.

  1. Windows 8.1 Support!

  2. iOS version!!

  3. My addition would be to have user controlls so we can choose font size, font type, background and key colors and more customizeable look, much like HRD. Nice job on the colored font for the macros by the way!

Yes, a java or python version that would run with linux or windoze would be great.

Really wish I could put a stereo signal into the system for I/Q decodeing BUT if this was a compatable laptop script/app then one could.

Now if the KX3 companion could just runitself and perform QSOs without my being there to supervise…… ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • More customization can be quite easily done.

I about to rethink a little the user interface and design to make it adapt even better to all the different display sizes and I’ll surely add font size/type customization and maybe some “color theme”.

The desktop app should be based on Java as it’ll be easier for me to do the porting and it’ll also make easy to be multi os.

Thanks for all the suggestion John.

AutoQSO is still hard but I’ll work on it when I’ll be retired ๐Ÿ˜€

  4. Very much like using KX3 Companion!

    As for other features…

I love using the pan with PSKD, FSKD and CW, but would like a finer zoomed in resolution down to say 500hz for better fine tuning of the psk and rtty signals particularly. I find the KX3s spot and rtty tuning difficult in the presence of multiple signals. The pan helps though.

I would like to be able to scroll down the decode window and have in auto scroll when full.

I am having a couple crashes per session on my Nexus 7 2014 but even these don’t take away the benefits and pleasure using such a fine companion and great use for my tablet.

A full function Panadapter such as NaP3 and fldigi that integrate with companion…Just dreaming and while dreaming JT65. Hi Hi

Now if I could only get my Nexus batteries to last like the KX3s.

    Thanks Andea

    • Hi Rob,

all good suggestions, thanks. I’ll add to the “to do list” ๐Ÿ˜‰

About the JT65 I’m dreaming of developing an app for it as well. It’s one of my favorite digital modes and actually there’s nothing for mobile devices.

I’ll try to work on it after I’ll do some experience with WSPR (the WSPR Beacon app should be out this weekend!).

About N7 batteries… did you try an Y OTG cable allowing the N7 to be connected to the KX3 and external batteries at the same time. Read here: https://kx3companion.com/2014/07/24/y-otg-cable-to-charge-while-running-kx3-companion/
      for more info.

  5. Selectable Port! Its easy to make a bluetooth Serial Adapter for KX3. But i canยดt select the source in KX3companion.

    Thank you!

    • Hi Taner,
actually the app does have the option to do wireless serial but only via Wifi. Bluetooth serial can be added and it’s not a great difficulty. What I’d like to do is work with BLE so that the same hardware can be used both in Android and in iOS when the app will be released for that platform.
But I’ll try to implement Bluetooth as well for those like you that want to build their own wireless interface.
