KX3 KeyApp Almost Ready And QRSS Development

Hi everyone,

A quick update on last couple of days development.

The new app (KX3 KeyAPP) is almost ready. I decided to release it with at least a couple of ready made templates and I’m working on them actually. The default one is ready and is already a good one. Now I’m working (with the help of “experts”) to developing one specifically for CW operators. Maybe I’ll add another one for contest. Not an expert in that so probably I’ll leave it to a future update.

The KX3 KeyApp now also allows saving/loading and “sharing” of templates. You’ll be able to send the template file via email, save in Dropbox or whatever is in your Android “share” panel.

I also added a link to automatically download the Elecraft K3 and KX3 programmer’s reference pdf, to have it always handy.

Meanwhile I started, and I’m already at a good point, the development of a QRSS Beacon App.

The QRSS Beacon App will enable you to send messages in QRSS, FSK/CW and DFCW, with a DIT (point) duration from 1 second to 60 seconds.

Using an Android device for that is not an easy task as we don’t have great resolutions. 4/5Hz is the best I can reach actually and it’s just good enough for FSK/CW and DFCW. Surely not for WSPR, but that’s another story.

The core is already working and under test. I only have to work a little on the User Interface. It should be ready by the end of next week.

I’ll send some screenshot of the app and of waterfall showing it working in the coming days.

One more thing… the QRSS Beacon App is not intended to be used exclusively on the KX3 but it works on every app with an audio input!
