Hi everyone,

I’m happy to announce that I just started the development of the KX3 Companion Remote app.

This app will be like the KX3 Companion one, but will be able to work remotely. That means that you’ll be able to leave your KX3 at home and use it from anywhere using your app.

I just finished coding and tested the “serial over Internet” part and I’m already able to use all the functions of the KX3 Companion from anywhere. That means that I can already send/receive CW/PSK31/RTTY, change frequency, etc.

What I’m still missing is the audio in/out part that is probably the tricky part. I want to be able to stream from and to the radio over Internet, putting particular attention to reduce as much as possible the lagging.

I still don’t know if I’ll develop a desktop application of if I’ll be able to develop a web service so that no software installation is required. I’ll try to go with the web service 🙂

I’d like to have people register to a web site, connect the USB serial to the PC, connect audio in/out to the KX3 and the use the same username/password in the mobile app and use the KX3 remotely.

I’ll keep you updated on the development as this is a really cool feature that many of you will love!
